Be part of the movement
Traditionally, nonprofits haven't taken the time to "think bigger." We focus on short-term challenges. We don't meet often enough with our peers and benefit from their experiences or take advantage of all our community partners have to offer. We're not doing enough to become better Boards and executives, nor are we a strong voice for constructive public policy. Working together to make a greater social impact seems laudable, but infeasible.
There's so much more we can accomplish as a team, through discussion, knowledge-sharing, and cooperation. We shouldn't be "going it alone" - as nonprofits, we should be the leaders of a vibrant movement! Unlike most states, though, Virginia doesn't have a statewide nonprofit association to help bring us together. That's why, in 2014, a group of area nonprofit leaders formed the Nonprofit Alliance of the Northern Shenandoah Valley (NANSV).
